Fall Festival Parade: Students parade on school grounds in festive costumes.

Back-to- School Ice Cream Social: Staff members and parents meet and greet each other prior to the upcoming school year. Minor school supplies are distributed to students.

Open House/ Meet the Teachers & Staff: Parents visit and tour the school to learn more about his/her child's learning environment. Teachers take this opportunity to explain procedures, concepts, and expectations. Teachers also respond to questions.

Winter Festival: Students participate in holiday events surrounding Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukah, and other festive holidays or traditions.

Black History Celebration Activities: Students and staff create and participate in a celebration of African American culture & history.

School Dances: Parents, staff, and students come together to raise money for various school related functions. Dances usually occur during the spring months, and are exclusively for students in grades 6, 7, and 8. Students can have photographs taken, dance, purchase snack items, and participate in our raffles.

Science Fair/ Demonstrations: Students in grades 6-8 showcase science fair projects demonstrating an understanding of the scientific method. Parents, students, staff, and community members have an opportunity to participate and view projects.

Book Fairs: The school hosts Scholastic Book Fairs catering to a variety of literature taste. Resources are also available for parents, teachers, and others.

Spring Talent Show: Students audition for the annual talent show production displaying various acts and performances.

Academic & Athletic Banquets: Staff, parents, and businesses hosts banquets rewarding the accomplishments and achievements of students demonstrating “A” or “B” honor roll status, good citizenship, perfect attendance, effort toward learning, and/or athletic participation.

Eighth Grade Recognition Ceremony: Eighth grade students are recognized for completion of elementary and middle school academic requirements. Students receive certificates and awards, and attend in a reception in their honor.
